Trigger Warning: Self-Harm

Beat, beat, buzz, buzz;
Rejoice, for now you know you have a heart in a world where most don’t.
Beat, beat, buzz, buzz;
Is it champagne popping in your ear or is it just fuzz?

Breathe, gasp, shudder, slump;
Repeat till the pill caresses your back, your belly, your lungs, your palms.
Breathe, gasp, shudder, slump;
You finally land on your feet, defeating that one last bump.

Thump, thump, sigh, sigh;
Oh, what a bloody mess!
Thump, thump, sigh, sigh;
Why must the razor feel like passion on your thigh?

Dab, wince, dab, wince;
Is it fear the cotton soaks or is it blood?
Dab, wince, dab, wince;
“Until next time,” insanity promises as it kisses you while you rinse.
